One of my favourite picture books is Queenie: One Elephant's Story, written by a dear friend Corinne Fenton, and illustrated by Peter Gouldthorpe. Needless to say, I'm THRILLED that Queenie is going paperback.
Queenie: One Elephant's Story is the beautiful, touching and heartbreaking story about Queenie the Elephant who for over forty years gave children rides around the Melbourne Zoo.
This Sunday at 2pm Minister for the Environment, The Hon. Ryan Smith will launch the first paperback edition of Queenie’s unforgettable story at Melbourne Zoo.
Sunday is a perfect day to visit the zoo, and for the cost of zoo entry, you'll not only experience all the wonders Melbourne Zoo has to offer, BUT you can be part of the launch of this simply beautiful book. Bargain I say!
And you can eat cake and chocolate elephants too!!
Not convinced?
Then listen to Corinne herself talk about Queenie and her story on Thursday, January 19.
Corinne will be joining 3RRR's Summer Breakfasters at 8.45am Thursday for a chat. (Fear not! If you're unable to pick up 3RRR - can listen here! They stream live on-line.)
Later Thursday morning, at 11am, Corinne with be on 774 ABC Melbourne's Conversation Hour to talk about Queenie and Sunday's launch. Again, 774 Melbourne streams live, so you can listen on line, or check out the podcast after Thursday.
So that's me sorted - Thursday glued to the computer listening on-line to Corinne, then a trip to the zoo Sunday to be part of the Queenie: One Elephant's Story launch.
Hope to see you there!
